In-Situ Corona™ (ISC) technology is a
method for treatment of semi-volatile and non-volatile
contaminants. Utilizing a low-temperature plasma (corona) to
destroy contaminants in soil and groundwater.
The acceleration of an electron within
an electric field to an energy level which ionizes gas molecules
creates a corona. The corona creates strong reactants capable of
destroying organic contaminants. The technology is relatively
insensitive to the type of organic contaminants. In addition, the
technology is effective in a wide variety of soil types, including
low-permeability soils.
In-Situ Corona™ is a promising new
technology that has been tested in the laboratory and is currently
under scale-up R & D for field demonstration.
